Education for all

Open Arms Children International Inc. understands that learning is crucial for development and one of the most powerful tools in breaking the cycle of poverty.  Through our educational program, we aim to provide both academic and vocational training and support for young people — especially girls by:

–       Enabling young women to receive a basic education after primary school;

–       Providing school supplies;

–       Expanding knowledge of the wider world through improving computer literacy

OACI invests more in education than any other program area and works to ensure that children, young people and adults receive the knowledge and life skills they need to realize their full potential.

Our school improvement program is a major part of our formal education work. It encourages:

  • Support to every aspect of a school which is essential in creating the best learning environment for children
  • Active participation of children and communities in school governance
  • Accountability of individual school administrators and managers for children’s’ enrollment, attendance, learning, and successful course completion.

Going forward, OACI hopes to be a catalyst towards educating women on various activities which encourage self-reliance, such as, the general promotion of local initiatives that can reduce poverty and/or women’s groups workshops/seminars to stimulate capacity-building activities.
